This tutorial will show you how to defragment your hard drive in Windows XP.  This in only a minor tweak.

Disk Defragmenter rearranges the data on your hard disk to improve read and write performance.

How do I run a Disk Defragmentation?
Classic Theme:
  1.  Click Start
  2.  Select Programs » Accessories » System Tools
  3.  Then click Disk Defragmenter.
Luna Theme:
  1.  Click Start
  2.  Select All Programs » Accessories » System Tools
  3.  Then click Disk Defragmenter.

Then select the drive you wish to defragment (Most people will just have 1 drive).

  1.  Click Defragment.
Or you can click Analyze which will then tell you whether it needs Defragmenting or not.
