Adding Shadows and Lighting to your Photos

This tutorial with guide you through how to add a shadow to a painting on a wall and give the whole room a lighting effect.

1.

Open your image, I am using this one:

Now paste your painting on to the canvas, make sure it is on a new layer of its own.

Right click the layer in the Layers panel and select Blending Options. Use these options:

Drop Shadow

Outer Glow

Now select your background layer, or the layer that you have your room on.

Go to Filter » Render » Lighting Effects

You should now have something that looks like this:

You can then touch up the photo by using Shadow/Highlight on the Image » Adjustments menu.
