This tutorial with guide you through how to make sidebars for your website:

1.

Open Photoshop and open an image of your choice.

I am using this scene from one of the Microsoft Windows Media Video High Definition videos.

2.

Select the Rectangle Marquee Tool marquee tool

3.

Set these settings in the top toolbar.

Change the 75px to the width you want your sidebars.

4.

Click somewhere on your image. You will notice it draws a small line on your image. This is the fixed size we specified.

5.

Press Ctrl + J to duplicate the selection in to a new layer.

6.

Press Ctrl + T to transform the new layer.

7.

Pull the top up. You should get something like this:

8.

Press Ctrl + A to select the whole canvas then press Ctrl + C

Open up your template or create a new template.

Press Ctrl + V to paste it in then transform it so its the right size. Then duplicate and flip horizontally for the other side.
